Title Sequence analysis of Sin City

From the beginng of the title opening sequence you get the feel that it may have a bloody refernce with the bold thick qrighting used to show the films name, As you can see below.

The location of the where the film is set our where its possibly going to be set is in a city. This is identified immediately at the beginning of the title opening sequence to show the audience where it may take place. This helps the audience to identify where the film is taking place and therefore preparing them for a certain type of action.

Throughout the title opening sequence, different characters are introduced through animations and each ones mean and shows their character. For example when Jessica Alba is introduced, a woman dressed in just pants is shown. This could mean that the character she portrays in the film maybe be a seductive sexy woman or possible even a dancer. When other characters are shown, a man holding a gun is shown. which could suggest that he maybe a gangster or someone out for revenge.

Sin city is a type of a thriller. These are types of films known to promote intense excitement, suspense, a high level of anticipation, ultra-heightened expectation, uncertainty, anxiety, and nerve-wrecking tension. Thriller and suspense films are virtually synonymous and interchangeable categorizations, with similar characteristics and features.

The whole title opening sequence was done in animation, like a comic book, so therefore no camera shots where used. All of the shots of the animations where comic based:

The soundtrack used for this title opening sequence along with the editing is very effective. the sound has this very mysterious feel to it and with the use of imagery such as these:

it enables the audience to think real careful to see what type of film this is going to be. Mysterious music is usually used in detective films such as pink panther. so as a result it makes the audince ask question such as, is this a mysterious thriller? or is it a action thriller?
